INDICATIONS:
Amikacin is used for the treatment of serious gram-negative infections in multiple species, especially where gentamicin-resistant bacteria are present.
- Effective against E. coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Pseudomonas spp., and more.
- Suitable for systemic and intrauterine use in mares.
- Commonly used when immediate treatment is needed before culture results are available
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
- Hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides.
- Use with extreme caution in animals with renal impairment.
- Increased risk of toxicity in neonates, geriatrics, dehydrated, febrile, or septic animals.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Administer under veterinary supervision.
Cattle, Sheep & Goats:
- 7 mg/kg IV or IM every 8 hours
- OR 22 mg/kg IV or IM once daily
Horses:
- Neonates: 22-25 mg/kg IV once daily
- Older foals & adults: 5 mg/kg IV once daily
- Adults (general): 6.6-10 mg/kg IM or IV once daily
Mastitis/Endometritis (Intrauterine/Intramammary):
- Mix 8 ml of MICIX Injection with 200 ml 0.9% Sodium Chloride
- Administer daily for 3-5 days
Poultry:
- 10 mg/kg body weight by S/C or I/M injection
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
- Eggs: 7 days
- Meat: 28 days
