INDICATIONS:
Used in the treatment of:
- Congestive cardiomyopathy
- Pulmonary edema
- Hypercalcuric nephropathy
- Uremia
- Adjunctive therapy in hyperkalemia
- Occasional use as an antihypertensive agent
Specific uses:
- Cattle: Post-parturient udder edema and associated structures
- Race Horses: Prevents/reduces epistaxis (exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage)
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
- Acute glomerular nephritis
- Renal failure with anuria
- Electrolyte deficiency diseases
- Overdose with digitalis.
- Concurrent use with aminoglycoside antibiotics
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Route: Intramuscular (IM) or Intravenous (IV)
- Dogs & Cats: 1-2 mg/kg body weight, once or twice daily at 6-8 hour intervals
- Cattle: 0.5-1 mg/kg body weight
- Horses: 0.5-1 mg/kg body weight, once or twice daily at 6-8 hour intervals
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
- Cattle: Meat & Milk-48 hours
- Horses: Not for animals intended for human consumptions
