Description

INDICATIONS:

AMBROFUR is recommended as supportive therapy in the management of catarrhal inflammation of the bronchi and upper respiratory tract in horses and dogs. Specific indications include:

  • Respiratory Conditions: Acute and chronic chest infections, bronchopneumonia, catarrhal rhinitis, strangles, and post-viral cough.
  • Reproductive Conditions: Uterine infections such as pyometra and mucometra.

ACTION:

AMBROFUR is a mucolytic expectorant. Its active ingredient, Ambroxol an active metabolite of Bromhexine-acts by breaking down long mucopolysaccharide chains, thereby reducing the viscosity of thick mucus. This results in a productive cough that aids in the expulsion of liquefied mucus from the respiratory tract. It helps clear and maintain open bronchioles and alveoli, thus relieving respiratory distress. AMBROFUR also enhances the concentration of chemotherapeutic agents in bronchial secretions, promoting faster recovery.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

  • Horses: 0.3 mg/kg bodyweight (equivalent to 5 ml per 100 kg), administered twice daily.
  • Dogs: 0.6 mg/kg bodyweight (equivalent to 1 ml per kg), administered twice daily. Administer AMBROFUR via intravenous injection only.
